Hello and welcome to Becoming a Health Coach.

My name is Megan McCrory. I started this podcast in 2018 when I began the Health Coach Training Program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

At the time I was working in the Medical Device industry and was starting to question if that was the career path I wanted to continue pursuing. I had a passion to help people more directly and decided to check out a masters in Nutrition or becoming a Dietitian but both of these paths required many years of school. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to quit my job and make that level of time and financial commitment. While I was researching Nutrition schools, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition popped up, as I’m sure it has for you if you found your was to this podcast.

I had never heard of a Health Coach before. I had only heard of Life Coaching a few years before so I was intrigued and quickly signed up for the year long course that I could do while keeping my day job. It was a great way to see if I was ready for a career shift and if the health and wellness industry was the right move.

In 2018, there was only the option to take the year long program. Since then you can take an accelerated program only lasting 6 months. I decided to start a podcast about the process of Becoming a Health Coach as a way to reinforce the material I was learning and meanwhile it was a great way to study and review the material every week.

In this podcast Episodes 1 through 21 were recorded in 2018. I explain what I’m learning each week at IIN, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. If you are interested in what it’s like at IIN then these episodes are for you.

My most popular episode is 23 in which I review IIN’s Hormone Health Course. The most recent episodes I dive into life after you get your certification, including interviewing other health coaches.

This new trailer was recorded in April 2025 and at this time I don’t plan to record any new episodes but that could change if you have some specific questions or you’d like me to continue on.

I am not practicing my health coaching at present but I am still podcasting. I co-host a show called So Frickin’ Healthy with fellow IIN alum Danna Levy Hoffmann.

I keep this show up because I still have new listeners like you! Listeners email me all the time to ask questions or just to say hi. You can send me a voicemail or send me message using the link in the show notes.

Also, you will hear and see my affiliate links and offers hanging around. I’m happy to offer you the discount, I fully stand by my time and training at IIN and I’m happy to recommend it. I learned so much about myself, food politics, coaching, and most importantly, how to listen.

That’s it from me, I hope you enjoy the show and I wish you well on your journey to Becoming a Health Coach!
